Doug Hamer
Camp Director
Doug Hamer joined the staff at LaMoine Christian Service Camp in September of 2001. After 4 years as Retreat Center Manager, Doug took over the role of Camp Director. As Camp Director, Doug's primary responsibilities include general oversight of all camp operations, promotion and public relations, fundraising, and providing leadership to other camp staff and volunteers.
In December of 2002, Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with minors in Finance, and Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration (RPTA) from Western Illinois University. The years of learning Doug acquired from WIU will certainly prove beneficial to his work at the camp.
Doug is married to Wendy, his wife of 20 years, and they have a daughter, Shannon who is 18 years old. The Hamer’s live on site at the Camp and attend Burnside Christian Church. They are originally from Rockford, Illinois, moving to Macomb 11 years ago to join the work of Illini Children’s Christian Ministries where Doug served as a Ministry Representative to West Central Illinois. During their years with ICCM Doug, Wendy, and Shannon ministered to 9 foster children. When ICCM closed the doors of the Macomb Home, God opened new doors for the Hamer family. They are so thankful to God that they were able to stay in the area and in ministry work. And so are we.
