Stewardship Program

Your Camp Board and Director have begun work on a 3 phase Camp Stewardship Program. Phase 1 is to eliminate the current debt. In Phase 2 we will bring our current facilities up to a higher standard and 100% utilization. And during Phase 3 we will focus on growth oriented development. The completion of this 3 Phase Stewardship Program will take several years. The details of Phase 1 are complete and we ask for your prayers and help in getting the word out about this most immediate opportunity.

During the process of building the Retreat Center the camp went into debt. At its’ highest point the camp debt was $244,000.00. In February of 2005, we locked in an interest rate and began to make payments on a five year note in the amount of $200,000.00. Over the past 2 years we have paid our note down to about $110,000.00. During this same period we have also paid an additional $21,000.00 in interest. Budgeting for interest expense is not something we believe we should have to settle for and waiting another 3 to 5 years before being able to address some rather urgent needs of our facilities would not be good stewardship.

Phase 2 – Facility Improvement & Utilization

Key Area of Focus: Buildings & Grounds
Goal: Improve current facilities to a higher standard & 100% utilization.
Target Date: January 2008 up to 5-7 years

Potential Program emphasis and Benefits:

• Replace bath domes
• Refurbish chapel
• Refurbish old dining hall
• Convert cabins into year round usability

Phase 3 – Growth Oriented Development Campaign

Key Area of Focus: All
Goal: To develop all areas of the camp ministry in order to maximize future growth opportunities.
Target Date: After Phase 2 completion up to 5 years

Potential Program emphasis and Benefits:

• Acquire additional land resources
• Hire additional staff
• Add programming/resources (Outpost camp, Handi-camp, etc.)
• Add recreational resources (playground, challenge initiatives, etc.)
• Increase camper capacity i.e. additional buildings
